If not… perhaps this week you will…  There are a couple of great workshops running. One on maximising lucerne productivity and the other on farm biosecurity.

Lucerne grazing management workshop

When & where:  This week… Wednesday, 7 September, Longford (9am – 1pm)

What: A half day workshop presented by Jason Lynch (Macquarie Franklin), Bruce Jackson (DPIPWE) and Kelly Burke (PGG Wrightson Seeds) focusing on optimizing lucerne production, including:

  • Lucerne plant physiology
  • Animal health considerations
  • Grazing management and feed budgeting
  • Weed management, plant nutrition and irrigation requirements

Farm biosecurity planning sessions

When & where:

This week…

  • Monday, 5 September, Campbell Town
  • Tuesday, 6 September, Winnaleah
  • Thursday, 8 September, Smithton

Next week…

  • Tuesday, 13 September, Flinders Island

What: This one day workshop will help you to develop a biosecurity plan for your farm.  Learn how improvements to farm biosecurity can reduce the risk of pests, diseases, weeds and contaminants and leave this workshop with a draft biosecurity plan for your farm.  Updates on bovine Johne’s disease management, tips on how to manage farm visitors (e.g. utility companies), stray livestock and how to satisfy abattoir farm assurance program biosecurity requirements.

Cost: $50 ex gst per business
