Virtual Farm Tours

Each year Red Meat Updates premiers a virtual farm tour of a leading Tasmanian farm business at the event. You can watch virtual farm tours from previous years below.

Cluden Newry Pastoral, Longford Tasmania
The 2025 Red Meat Updates Virtual Farm Tour was sponsored by Pinion Advisory and features Cluden Newry Pastoral, based in Longford Tasmania. Cluden Newry Pastoral is a leading mixed livestock and cropping business, owned and managed by Jock Hughes and Claire Burbury. Cluden Newry incorporates an Angus seedstock stud and commercial beef operation, prime lamb production and mixed irrigated cropping enterprises. Growth has been a large focus for Cluden Newry over the recent years, with expansion via property purchases and irrigation development. A big thank you to Jock and the Cluden Newry team for being our 2025 virtual farm tour hosts, and thank you to Pinion Advisory for sponsorship of this year’s video.

RV Bowden & Son, Bothwell Tasmania
The 2024 Red Meat Updates Virtual Farm Tour was sponsored by the Pasture Trials Network and showcases Will and Ed Bowden of RV Bowden & Son – a longstanding, large scale family farming business based in the Central Highlands of Tasmania. This year’s farm tour demonstrates the multigenerational commitment to development, expansion and improvement of a longstanding family business and innovation over the generations. Thank you to the Bowden family for their generosity in being our 2024 VFT hosts and thank you to the Pasture Trials Network for their support of this years’ Red Meat Updates event.

The Circular Head Beef Producers Group, north west Tasmania
This year’s Red Meat Updates virtual farm tour is sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions and will showcase the significant impact the long-standing Circular Head Beef Producers Group has on its producer members. The VFT dropped in on the Circular Head Beef Producers Group March 2023 discussion day to experience first hand the value the discussion group offers. The VFT also captures the stories of two of the group’s member businesses; Western Plains Beef and Pilkington Pastoral. Thank you to Nutrien Ag Solutions for sponsoring this year’s tour and thank you to the Circular Head Beef Producer Group, the Bruce family and the Pilkington family for being our 2023 VFT hosts.

Connorville Station, Cressy Tasmania
The 2022 Red Meat Updates Virtual Farm Tour was sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions and features the O’Connor family from Connorville Station, Cressy Tasmania. Connorville Station, located in Cressy, northern Tasmania is one of the oldest farming operations in the state. Continuously farmed by the O’Connor family since it’s establishment in 1824. Seventh generation producer, Roderic O’Connor and his wife, Kate take a pragmatic approach to farm management decisions, looking long-term to ensure the business’ resilience and sustainability.
Thank you to the O’Connor family for being our hosts for the 2022 VFT and to Nutrien Ag Solutions for their ongoing support of Red Meat Updates.

Flinders Island, Tasmania
The 2021 RMU Virtual Farm Tour was sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions and saw us head to Flinders Island to visit two beef producers, Chris Macqueen from Skyhaven and Tom Youl from The Quoin. Life on Flinders Island brings opportunities but is not without its challenges, and the logistics of farming on the island require a high level of organisation and forward planning. Thank you to the Macqueen and Youl families for being this year’s virtual farm tour hosts, and thank you to Nutrien Ag Solutions for their sponsorship of this year’s video.

Barnbougle, Bridport Tasmania
The 2019 RMU Virtual Farm Tour was sponsored by TP Jones & Co and showcases the Sattler family farm, ‘Barnbougle’, situated at Bridport in north east Tasmania. Barnbougle has undergone significant growth and diversification since its purchase in 1989 and succession has been a gradual and natural process for the Sattler family. Thank you to the Sattler family for being our 2019 VFT hosts and thank you to TP Jones & Co for their sponsorship of this years video.

Nosswick, Blackwood Creek Tasmania
This year for our Red Meat Updates Virtual Farm Tour we visited Scott Colvin and ‘Nosswick’ at Blackwood Creek in the Northern Midlands region. Nosswick is made up of 1000ha (incorporating 450ha of irrigated pastures and cropping) and prime lamb production is a major focus of the business, with 10,000 lambs finished annually. Working group members Iain and Chris met with Scott to hear about his business mode and what the succession process has looked like for the Colvin family. Thank you to the Colvin family for being the 2018 VFT host and thank you to TP Jones for their sponsorship of this years video.

Grindstone Bay Pastoral, Triabunna Tasmania
The 2017 Red Meat Updates VFT was sponsored by TP Jones & Co and features William and Melissa Fergusson of Grindstone Bay Pastoral. Grindstone Bay is a dryland wool production and beef breeding and finishing business, located at Triabunna on the east coast of Tasmania. A major management consideration of the Grindstone Bay business is the climate variability of Tasmania’s east coast. Weather patterns such as prolonged dry periods, followed by extreme rain events, present significant challenges to productivity. William and Melissa explain their process for planning and operating under highly variable conditions and their plans for the future. Thank you to Grindstone Bay for being our 2018 VFT hosts and thank you to TP Jones & Co for their sponsorship of the video.
