Red Meat Updates 2026 was held on Friday 31st July in Launceston. Over 320 people from across the Tasmanian red meat industry were in attendance to learn from leading producers and industry professionals, and make new connections with peers and stakeholders.
Under the theme ‘making it count – optimising the farm system’ this year’s event program featured a range of technical presentations, producer case studies, tools, resources and research findings to support Tasmanian producers in making every dollar, minute and hectare ‘count’.

The 2026 Red Meat Updates Virtual Farm Tour was sponsored by Muirs and features Riverlea Farming, located in Epping Forest Tasmania. Owned and managed by Ben and Steph Tait, Riverlea is a highly integrated livestock and cropping farm operation. With several livestock enterprises (beef breeding and finishing, prime lamb production and dairy heifer agistment) and a significant cropping operation (including root vegetable seed, pasture seed and cereal seed production), and straw production enterprise, Ben is focused on ensuring each enterprise is carefully selected and managed, to inform overall business profitability and sustainability long-term.
